Interplay Learning Wins $100k in the XR Education Prize Challenge, an Innovation Competition Funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Interplay Learning is incredibly excited to share that our technical leadership was recognized in a competition hosted by the NYU School of Entrepreneurship and Techstars in partnership with Two Bit Circus, University Ventures and Women in XR. This Challenge was an innovation competition that was funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The program is focused on accelerating education innovation using virtual, augmented, and mixed reality.

Interplay’s Skilled Trades Training Catalog developed using Interplay’s SkillMill engine took center stage and introduced to the XR community to how Virtual Reality (VR) has the potential to improve educational accessibility, affordability and/or outcomes for a new generation of learners. Interplay’s second place finish included a $100,000 cash prize.

Because of an aging workforce and skills gap, there is a major labor supply issue for all mechanical, electrical and industrial industries in the United States. Interplay Learning's VR-focused training solution stands as the greatest opportunity to deliver on-demand, hands-on-like training to thousands, if not millions. We are dedicated to helping people learn the necessary skills to land available skilled trades jobs and start higher paying careers.

We recently sat down with one of our awesome customers, Johnny Gonzalez of Labor Finders, to see how Interplay Learning has affected his business. We used this customer experience video (in this contest) to help highlight a customer point-of-view in how Virtual Reality will change the way people learn new skills.

Check out Interplay Learning's COO, Stephen Quirk hanging out (and working hard) at the XR Education Summit live pitch event, hosted by Two Bit Circus in Los Angeles.
