HVAC Certificate Program

The courses in the HVAC Certificate Program will start you off with the basic theoretical understanding you need to get started in the industry, including familiarity with the kinds of tools and components you’ll encounter in the industry and how to work with them safely. You’ll then get the chance to apply this knowledge by learning how to diagnose and fix a comprehensive range of faults in a number of different types of HVAC equipment.

A career in HVAC is perfect for those who:
  • Enjoy math.
  • Don’t mind working in harsh, hot, or humid conditions.
  • Are comfortable with the need for Continuing Education Units (CEUs available through Interplay Learning) throughout career.

Plumbing Certificate Program

The Plumbing Certificate Program will lay the groundwork for your plumbing career by building familiarity with basic math, the fixtures and fittings you’ll encounter when on the job, the principles behind how plumbing systems function and plumbing code. You’ll then apply that knowledge by tackling a range of installation, maintenance and troubleshooting tasks on water heaters, fixtures and piping systems.

A career in Plumbing is perfect for those who:
  • Enjoy problem solving.
  • Are comfortable working with sewage and other hazardous waste materials.
  • Would prefer working traditional hours with only the occasional night or weekend.

Multi-Family Certificate Program

A career in the Multi-Family Maintenance industry often means wearing many different hats, Multi-Family Certificate Program covers diverse topics from HVAC, Plumbing and Electrical, always providing a basis of knowledge in theory and safety. You’ll also get the opportunity to become familiar with a diverse range of maintenance and repair tasks in each of these areas so that you’re prepared for any job that may come your way.

This pathway will also equip you with product knowledge across the trades that can lead to career opportunities with the Lowe’s outside sales team

A career in Multi-Family is perfect for those who:
  • Enjoy working with the same people on a daily basis.
  • Would benefit from a discounted place to live (most apartment complexes offer discounts to their technicians in return for on-call maintenance hours).
  • Enjoy solving many maintenance challenges across most major technical trades (HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Appliance Repair, etc).

Appliance Repair Certificate Program

The Appliance Repair Certificate Program is a great way to get familiar with household appliances, starting with the tools you’ll use every day and how to work with them safely. Next, you’ll dive into learning electrical concepts so that you’re ready for your final step – a comprehensive understanding of dishwashers, refrigerators, and built-in cooking so you know how you will troubleshoot and repair these appliances in the field.

A career in Appliance Repair is perfect for those who:
  • Want an entry-level career without an apprenticeship (many appliance repair providers do not require an apprenticeship to start).
  • Want to own their own small business and set schedule, pricing, and service offerings.
  • Enjoy problem solving across a wide array of appliances (ovens and stove tops, refrigerators, dishwashers, etc).

Electrical Certificate Program

The Electrical Certificate Program is a great way to get familiar with fundamental electrical concepts to help you get started in the industry. You’ll learn about circuits, electrical devices, and tools, including how to use them safely. Finally, you’ll be able to put it all together by diving in to electrical installation and wiring.

A career in Electrical is perfect for those who:

  • Don’t mind having math weaved into their everyday duties. An electrician has to measure currents, volts, and calculate the correct amount of cable required.
  • Enjoy critical thinking and frequent problem-solving. Electricians face problems ranging from complex issues, like wiring, to basic ones, like choosing the correct cable size.
  • Are self-driven learners who can keep up with changing regulatory requirements.

Residential Construction Certificate Program

The courses in the Residential Construction Certificate Program will start with building a foundational knowledge of the tools and equipment you’ll encounter day-to-day and how to work with them safely. You’ll learn how to build a home from the ground up, from framing to exterior finishing, all while exposing you to critical knowledge of HVAC, Electrical, and Plumbing practices.

A career in Residential Construction is perfect for those who:

  • Can keep up with physically demanding work. Strength and stamina are essential for carrying out many tasks on a job site.
  • Are interested in learning about building and engineering. Familiarity with the skills, materials, and tools needed on a job site is invaluable to a construction worker’s skill set.
  • Enjoy collaboration. Workers who can communicate well will be able to motivate their team and ensure the project gets completed on schedule.

  • Excel at paying very close attention to the tiniest details. Whether it’s inspecting or fixing complex utility systems, they make sure everything is just right to keep everything running smoothly and safely.

  • Are master problem solvers. They can quickly figure out what’s wrong with a machine and come up with clever solutions, even in high-pressure situations.

Next Steps After Program Completion

Will I be ready to work after I get my Job-Ready Certificate?

Your Job-Ready Certificate will signal to future employers that you are a qualified, knowledgeable, and safe employee. You understand the basics of your new trade, and you are ready to learn in-the-field!

Most essential trades require an apprenticeship as the next step. You will be able to continue to learn while you earn and shadow an industry veteran before becoming an independent tradesperson yourself.

For trades that don’t require an apprenticeship, you will be ready to start at an entry level in that career.
